NOTES ARCHIVE

May 22nd, 2009

My first vacation of the summer is coming up.  Actually it will be a working vacation.  I will be helping deliver a sailboat to Santa Cruz California.  Should be fun plus I get to see my family again.  My second vacation will happen in late July early August and that will include my music adventure in Mendocino.  The "Gathering of the Tribe" weekend festival in Mendocino will most likely happen on the 1st and 2nd of August.  Lots of places to stay as well as places to camp or park your RV.  Stay tuned and I will bring you more updates.

To everyone who has been around La Cruz de Huanacaxtle for sometime please check out my friend's youtube song.   Your picture may even be in the video.

You will no doubt remember Captain Luis who played music around here forever.  There is something special about this rendition of "All the good times are past and gone", a song written by Bill Monroe, that really touches me.  It's especially meaningful to me since I just recently lost two very good friends and am about to lose another.  God be with you mi amigos.  We'll be joining you all too soon.

Well the Swine Flu was a bust.   A total non event.  Less potent than the real flu and harder to catch.  They're still worried about it coming back next season in a mutated and more powerful form.  Irony of ironies.  If they would have just let everyone get it this time around we would all be immune to the damn thing on the next go round.  Sometimes it seems like reason just never prevails.  But hey, what's new you say?

Here's some cool news.  At least for me it is.  I made a great discovery this last weekend when I went up to San Sebastian for the night.  I stopped by and ate at my friends restaurant and on his menu was a new pizza.  The sauce, the sauce, it was awesome.  I asked him how he did it.  Turns out they roast the tomatoes in an oven for two hours covered with oregano, onions, and virgin olive oil.  We have been stewing the tomatoes.  Now however we are roasting them.  Wow, it's delicious!   Come by and give it a try.  Let me know what you think.
