Well, we have now entered low season mode. Days are
longer, crowds are thinning out and it's kick back time once again. Soooo...... we
have closed during the days and are now open on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and
Saturday nights. And.... we still have music, music, music on Thursday, Friday and
Saturday nights. Whoop tee doo amigo.
My summer plans are firming up. The "Gathering of the Tribe" weekend festival in Mendocino
is shaping up for the first weekend in August, at my friend
Rick's field of dreams, on Albion Ridge Road near Mendocino California. You
can expect lots of music and lots of fun. My Mexican Shuffle Band, as well as several
other of my friend's bands, will be joining me. As the summer rolls out
I will be giving you updates on the important things. Where you can stay, where
you can camp and how best to get there from where you are, etc. Stay tuned
folks.
Those of you who are sending my

Swine
what? Que pasa amigo? The following is a
report from Pamela, at pamela@healthcareresourcespv.com, regarding
the foul thing.
"I have just had a lengthy conversation with
an infectious disease physician from Vallarta, who is on his way back from an emergency
meeting in Guadalajara."
THERE HAVE BEEN NO CONFIRMED
CASES IN THE STATE OF JALISCO. There has been one reported case in the State
of Nayarit but that person is reported to be out of danger.
When I asked him if we are at risk here in Puerto
Vallarta he said: Yes - every time someone sneezes we are at risk.
When I asked him what we can do to prevent being
infected he said:
- Drink 50% more fluids than you
normally do.
- Take Vitamin A, D and B Vitamins
- There IS NO vaccine available at this time.
He stressed DO NOT RUSH OUT AND GET A FLU VACCINE - this is because for 3 weeks after
receiving the flu vaccine, the body has a lower immune system.
- He did suggest staying away from crowded
areas.
- Wash Wash Wash Wash Wash - hands, house, all
areas.
From Kathleen;
The Friendship Club of La
Cruz recently paid 4,600 pesos for eye glasses for four students at the Special
Needs School in Bucerias. They were brought to our attention by the Zeta chapter of Beta
Sigma Phi, a local service and social organization for women. We are happy to have been
able to assist and look forward to more opportunities in the future for helping this
organization with medical needs for children.
Thank you to everyone who gave us used eye glasses this season. We have distributed them
to the senior centers in La Cruz and Bucerias, and last week and this they are being
distributed by the Delegado's office in La Cruz. We collected over 500 eye glasses and
they are all appreciated by the community.
The Friendship Club is not participating in the Altruism Festival at the Marriott Hotel
this year, but we would still like to support its efforts to raise funds for 24 different
charity organizations. The Festival will be May 24 and will feature exceptional food
offerings from the best restaurants of the area and wonderful entertainment. If you would
like to buy tickets, please call Connie at 322-117-4434.
For those of you packing up and leaving to head north for the
summer, the Friendship Club is accepting non-perishable food to distribute to the
needy. If you have anything to give, email Kathleen at kdobek@hotmail.com
