Copa Mexico sailing events
that are happening here in Banderas Bay. It's going to be a
little overwhelming for our little Pueblo but hey, it should be
exciting.

THE EVENT IS CALLED COPA MEXICO
AND WILL CONSIST OF 5 DIFFERENT SAILING CLASSES: MEXORC
WHICH IS THE OCEAN RACERS WITH 35 ENTRIES, J24´S
WITH 57 ENTRIES, WINDSURFING
52 ENTRIES, KITE SURFING
WITH 152 ENTRIES, AND OPTIMISTS
WITH 74 ENTRIES. THERE WILL BE A TOTAL OF 2500 COMPETITORS ON
420 VESSELS. IT WILL BE FROM THE 27TH OF FEB TO THE 13TH OF MARCH.
THIS EVENT WILL BE THE FIRST OF THE EVENTS THAT ARE PART OF THE
BICENTENNIAL FESTIVITIES THAT WE ARE WORKING ON. NOT ONLY
ON THE ORGANIZATION OF THE EVENT BUT ALSO ON THE IMAGE AND HOW IT
BENEFITS THE REGION. THE PRESIDENT OF MEXICO WILL BE HERE
ON TWO OR THREE OCCASIONS. HE LOVES SAILING.

Not only will there be two weeks of these events but there are two
more weeks of events to follow. The La
Cruz Marina Boat show (March 11th through March 15th), is
another large event with new and used boats and all the boating
paraphernalia. And, starting on March 16th and lasting until
March 20th, is the Banderas Bay Regatta. This is a cruising
class of boats with a bunch of fun loving Cruisers out racing for the
fun of it. Some cool stuff.

The new highway
connection to Puerta de la Lima will originate from the four-lane
international highway near Jala (Jala
is between Tepic and Guadalajara on the four-lane toll road) and
terminate at Highway 200 near Puerta
de la Lima. MAP
the proposed alternate route from
Puerto Vallarta to Monteon is now projected to be completed prior to
the end of 2010. This alternate route will likely cut travel time from
the PV airport by least 20 minutes or more. The projected route leaves
the four-lane north of the airport just before the Flamingo’s golf
course and intersects the two-lane highway
just south of Monteon, some 5-minutes south of Guayabitos. MAP

we are having our third annual benefit for the community. It
will be an all you can eat BBQ Rib and Chicken Buffet.
The price will be 200 pesos and will include a full nights
entertainment with lots of great music as well as the children's dance
folk dance troupe. So get your tickets early they are going
fast. Tickets are on sale right here at Philo's.
All profits will help the Friendship Club continue in its support of
medical and school needs for our area. Tickets can be purchased at
Philo's Club and from Kathleen and her helpers.

The Friendship Club of La Cruz will
be one of many participants in this year's Nuevo Vallarta Yacht
Club Art and Wine Festival. Please join us to see original
works of art depicting scenes of La Cruz by the Club's patroness,
watercolorist Muriel Taylor. The Festival is this Sunday, February
21, from 3-6 p.m. and is open to the public.
